Notes I meant tot do more with my little crew for JoR and got distracted. However, as a V-day gist to [personal profile] shipwreck_light, I thought I would write two of them who I think she might get a kick out of.

Segovia isn’t a fan of fire, not really. He doesn’t get a thrill from the flames, doesn’t enjoy the smell of burning in the air. It’s boring to him, to watch people flee from the fire, dull to hear their cries as they try and put themselves out out of the danger.

Grevilea does not share his feelings. She was always a firebug, twirling matches between her fingertips and lighting the end of her cigarette with concealed lighters. Her cheeks glow pink, flushed with the rush of joy she receives in every little ember. She loves the idea of tearing down a world with her flames, even if she never actually does it.

He sometime suspects it’s only a matter of time before she does though,. Soon enough, they’ll all be burning.

They’re standing together in an alley, their mark laying dead between them. There’s blood on their clothes and they really ought to be going. However, Grevilea is taking her time, looking down at the corpse and lighting her cigarette with a lazy air about her.

“Grey,” he says gently, taking her elbow. “We really ought to be going. The car is waiting.”

She pouts, taking a drag from her cigarette. “We’re always rushing, do you realize that? We never get the time we need to relax, maybe smell the smoke in the air, listen to the birds.”

“I’m aware but we can do that later. Let’s go.”

She huffs, waving goodbye to the body and letting him pull her along. “You’re so dull sometimes.” She prods him with her index finger, one immaculate pink nail jabbing into his shoulder. “You should really loosen up.”

Scowling at her, he moves to open the passenger door to the waiting car and usher her inside. “I’m sensible,” he remarks as he gets in the drivers seat. “But you like it that way. If I were just like you, it would be quite boring.”

She laughs. “True enough, that would take all the fun out of things.”

Segovia just shakes his head. “See? Sensible.”

She laughs, leaning over to kiss him on the cheek. “My sensible boy. What am I do to with you?”

He reaches for her hand, tangling their fingers together. “Well, I suspect right now you want to see me on fire but beyond that, I’m sure we’ll come up with something.”

She hums, a low appreciative sound as she leans in, pressing her cigarette to his skin. He winces, a hiss pushing through his teeth as the car veers to one side for a moment. He doesn’t mind it, even expects it of her at this point, but every now and then he can still forget the feel of the burn.

“You’ll look lovely wrapped up in fire,” she whispers in his ear. “I want to see you bright and burning. I want to see you glow.”

He can feel his eyes wanting to close and just for a second, he lets it happen. “You will, my dear. Just as soon as we get back home.”

“It wouldn’t due to set the car on fire, would it?” She’s playing with him, he can tell. She’s got the tone of voice that shays she’s eager for some kind of entertainment, be it one with fire or something else.

“Very true,” he tells her. “There’s no sense in damaging the car when we’re almost there.”

She leans close to him, her mouth finding his earlobe. “But it would be a lovely way to burn,” she says softly. “The metal twisting, the gasoline fueling the fire. Think about it, love. It would be stunning.”

“Yes, yes,” he waves her off. “But no this time, my dear. We’ll be back sooner rather than later.”

Which was true, there don’t have far to go at this point. Still, he wonders if he can keep her from doing something incredibly reckless before they make it home.

Her hand is resting on his forearm and she grins at him, letting it wander down to his thigh for a moment.

“Fine,” she says. “If you won’t let me light up my life, surely you can do something else for me…”

“Grevilea,” he speaks with a sharp tone, taking his eyes off the road to properly look at her for a moment. “Not now. Just give it a few more minutes.”

She scowls at him, hardly appreciating his desire to not end up in a wreck before they make it back to the manor.

“Fine,” she huffs. “Be that way.”

The rest of the trip is uneventful and they make it back without crashing the car, setting something on fire, or having sex. Segovia is actually a little surprised.

However, once he’s parked, he finds Grevilea rushes away before he can say anything to her.

He sighs, rolling his eyes. Something was going to catch fire tonight and he would simply have to wait to see what she sets her frustration with him on this time.

I love the dynamic between these two. The banter and the passion and the sexiness...I want to read a whole novel about them.

Oh dear. I hope whatever catches fire isn't TOO important. Nice prompt use.
