Summary: Leila's not unhappy.
Warnings: none.
Notes: Don't mind me, just finishing up Olympic Gold.

Leila wasn't dissatisfied, exactly, and she certainly wasn't unhappy. Duncan was an excellent husband; he loved her and absolutely worshipped their small daughter. Neither did she feel threatened by Ahava's place in his life. How could she? Ahava was a sister-in-law just like Jeannie or Elspeth, nothing more, nothing less.

But. There was always a but, wasn't there? She'd always known Duncan would drop everything for Ahava, and she didn't mind second place, if that was really where she was. Then Safiya was born and Leila dropped to third, and now, six months in, she was starting to feel left out.

It was just because Safiya was so young, she told herself. As their daughter grew up things would even out. Everything would be all right again.

She smiled at Duncan, kissed the baby's head, and promised herself that it would be fine. She just had to give it time.

Poor Leila. :( I hope she communicates her issues with Duncan; he's probably not even aware he's making his wife feel left out.
