Angel Cake #12, Celestial Blue #8
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Partner
'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Angel Cake #12. Sing the praises, Celestial Blue #8. the angels sing
Supplies and Materials: miniature, fabric, canvas (980 FY)
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Characters: Taz Hantree
Warnings: None
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
Taz took a deep breath before vaulting over the railing and stepping onto the Morning Glory for the first time.
He was brand-new, and while he hadn't been built just for her, it almost felt like he had been. She was his first captain--probably the first person to touch him since the shipwrights finished and he was inspected. He was small and light, shallow on the draft, and would be fast. She could almost feel him aching to move, to start their adventures, as much as she did.
"Hello," she finally said. "My name's Taz. And I'm your Captain."

Do the Islanders gender ships male, then?
Long comment is long, and I should really write a proper essay in more detail about this, but
I started to write out a detailed response to your question, but realized I should probably do a proper essay about Islander ships/shipbuilding/etc. But for now, the short answer is, there are both male and female ships. Ships are gendered based on a variety of factors including size, speed, maneuverability, armament, and intended primary function. The Glory is a male ship; the ship Taz served on until getting her own (the Emerald Star is female, as is Kit's ship, the Scarlet Eagle.
