David Bowie 13: Deserts

Author: Kat
Title: Deserts
Story: In the Heart
Colors: David Bowie 13 (Breaking up is hard, but keeping dark is hateful→ Time (Aladdin Sane))
Supplies and Materials: Graffiti (Lilith Faire Second Stage: Three Wishes, The Pierces), seed beads (Lindy), glue (Unfortunately, digging in your heels is not the answer; letting go of control is a must.), oils (expectations)
Word Count: 196
Rating: PG
Summary: Lindy, on breaking up with Joy.
Warnings: none.
Notes: Lindy is one of Joy's ex-girlfriends. Er, obviously.

Lindy knew, to within a minute, when she first fell in love with Joy. She could not be so precise about when she fell out of love with her.

It was a slow process, probably. And it wasn't Joy's fault. Joy was just being herself, like she always was: sunny and bright and beautiful. Wonderful. The kind of girl you never fell out of love with. If there was anything wrong, it was in Lindy herself. Maybe she just couldn't love at all.

She wasn't egotistical: this wouldn't end Joy's life. Break her heart, sure, but even that won't last for long. Joy seemed to be made of rubber sometimes for all she bounced back. She would be fine. And Lindy, who did still love Joy even if she wasn't in love anymore, was grateful for that.

No, it was the right thing to do. If she wasn't sure of herself, of her feelings, she had to leave Joy. Joy deserved better than a partner who couldn't love her anymore. Joy deserved all the good things in the world. And Lindy...

Lindy didn't know what she deserved. But maybe it was time to find out.

I think Lindy is doing the mature thing here. Joy does deserve someone who can love her unreservedly.
