Dimana was sixteen the first time she got arrested.
Well, okay, technically she wasn’t arrested. But she did get picked up by the cops and spend some time in the back of a police car, so she figured it counted. And it wasn’t for anything serious--nah, she didn’t get into the real gambling or con artistry until she dropped out of college four years later.
This first time, she just got hauled in for drinking underage after flirting her way into a frat party at the local campus. Which, in hindsight, wasn't one of her brightest ideas, but at the time it seemed like a good plan. And it was fun. She drank, she danced, she made out with a super cute cheerleader, whose name and number she sadly lost when the cops showed up…
It was a good night, ‘til some genius found fireworks in the basement and set them off from the roof. Then the cops showed up, and Dimana couldn’t drive. She tried to run for it, but she was a little bit drunk and her legs didn’t seem to want to work properly. So she got a ride home and a well-meaning speech about Poor Life Choices from a nice lady cop who had a daughter about her age, and seemed to think she needed to be Rescued.
Her own mom, on the other hand…
Looking back, with some substantial arrest experience to back it up, Dimana figures she probably would have preferred getting booked to that lecture.
