Sorell tried to spend at least an hour a day with his wife and children, and usually he did. But sometimes, he had days like today--one minor crisis after another, all requiring his immediate, personal attention, and then it was nearly sunset and he hadn't had time.
He found Nida in the gardens, perched on the edge of a fountain. He touched her hand softly, and bent to kiss her.
"Long day?" she asked, setting her book aside.
"Yes, he said, sitting beside her and pulling her to rest on his shoulder. "Better now."
She kissed him again, and smiled.
