she wakes early, silk sheets tangled around her and her love. he came to her again last night, after weeks apart. she wants to cradle this feeling as long as possible. it's quiet; enemies still lurk outside the city gates, of course, but she can't hear them here.
here, there is only love; cool, pre-dawn light caresses his face, tracing the same lines her hands did hours ago.
she smiles and nestles closer, resting her cheek on his chest. he'll wake soon, and the war will resume. she knows this.
but in this moment, just before dawn, everything is sweet.
