Summary: Vera leaves Jack.

He looked shocked, stricken. Only for a moment though; Jack had always been good at hiding his feelings.
Vera managed a smile. "It's time, don't you think?"
"I guess," he said, shrugging a shoulder. "I mean, I thought things were going well."
They were, but... "We weren't going anywhere, honey. You know that."
"I guess," he said again, which meant that he didn't. "Vera..."
She held up a hand, involuntarily. "No, honey. Don't."
Jack nodded, resigned. "Come, let us kiss and part?"
"Since there's no help," she answered, and blew him a kiss.
It was the least she could do.
