By Aaron's estimation, he had gotten exactly four hours of sleep when someone climbed on his bed.

Granted, this was partly his own fault, for staying out so late. But it was Saturday, for God's sake; wasn't a fellow entitled to sleep in? He thought so.

Evidently his baby sister thought differently.

To Summer's credit, she didn't take Ivy's flying-leap approach. Instead, she'd clambered up and now sat by his shoulders, patting his face gently with her small hand. "Aaron," she said, insistently. "Aaron."

He finally, very reluctantly, opened his eyes, but only after it became clear that playing dead wasn't working. "Morning, Summer," he said. "What are you doing up so early?"

She shrugged, and regarded him with a solemn expression in her big blue eyes. "It's Saturday," she said.

"Yes," he said. "It is. What about it?"

Summer thought about it. "You should get up," she said, at last, and then looked to the doorway. "Is that right?"

A sense of doom overwhelmed Aaron, and he followed his baby sister's gaze, knowing exactly what he'd see.

Sure enough, Ivy stood there, a hand on her chin. "You did very well," she said. "'Cept really you're supposed to jump on him. Otherwise he doesn't wake up."

Aaron checked Summer's eyeline, and finding himself out of gaze, flipped Ivy the bird. "Actually, you did it perfectly, baby girl," he told Summer, shoving himself into a sitting position. "You're a little bit early, but you woke me up exactly right."

Summer turned a bright smile on him. "I'm glad," she told him, and allowed him to hug her and kiss her forehead. Over her head, he shot Ivy a look that promised vengeance.

"Just teaching her to be a good little sister," Ivy said, and skedaddled before he could get up.
