She should have known it was coming.

Who could love someone like her? Samantha did know that she was too broken for that. It wasn't like the mirrors in her head would ever let her forget. But she thought-- well, Jack was broken too. Maybe they could be broken together.

But that didn't work, and now she closed her eyes and stared at her mirrored self and hated what she saw. It was a familiar feeling, dull and hot. Cracks in her face but not in the mirrors, as always brutally clear.

She opened her eyes, and wished she hadn't.
