Okay, so, lots of people talk shit about the Navy, but they're the folks who've never been there, you know? They've never looked up at the stars and ached to be out there, so bad it hurts like a bruise in your heart. They've never buckled in the hold of a transpo ship knowing they're getting away at last, at long goddamn last. They've never stood on the bridge and watched the planets spin by, worlds of wonder at fingertip length.

People don't think about the Navy as freedom, but that's because they've never been there.
