Cutting Room Floor (tDiaG) Literary Octarine 21
Author:
novel_machinist
Story: The Devil is a Gentleman
Theme: Literary / Octarine 21. Look, that's why there's rules, understand? So that you think before you break 'em.
Word Count: 148
Summary: Alan and Carl's history, how they met and how Alan learned about the end
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Notes: I didn't think that this fit in the main story anymore, but I like it and wanted to show it to people. This is well, background and can show you how Alan's feeling during the main story.
Look, that's why there's rules, understand? So that you think before you break 'em.
After grad school, they bought a two bedroom apartment that they could barely afford on their starter salaries. It was comfortable enough for both of them to do normal things like date, eat, and relax. Carl was a bit of a neat freak and tended to keep it a little more organized than the typical bachelor pad.
He kept the apartment after Carl moved in with his girlfriend. No one else moved in. They still talked often and worked at the same company.
"Hey, Alan?"
"Hey, what's up?"
His smile had gotten a lot more comfortable after graduation. "I have a question." Before Alan could comment, Carl laughed. "Would you be my best man at my wedding?"
He blinked. "I haven't been to church since I was a kid, Carl."
"Outside wedding?"
"She doesn't like me."
"She doesn't like anyone who won't try to date her sister."
"…sure."
