Rose #2, Dandelion Yellow #3, Octarine #3
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Encounters
'Verse: Lux
Colors: Rose #2. A relationship is like a rose, How long it lasts, no one knows., Dandelion Yellow #3. gathering points, Octarine #3. It wasn't blood in general he couldn't stand the sight of, it was just his blood in particular that was so upsetting.
Supplies and Materials: photography, pointillism, miniature collection, canvas (the first four), watercolors (Don't I know you?), feathers, novelty beads (drown your sorrows)
Word Count: 300
Rating: PG
Characters: Shane Pryce, Simon
Warnings: References to memory loss.
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always. The Family refers to Simon generally as either 'Grandfather' or 'the first David,' since his name keeps changing. Shane uses Grandfather here.
Shane’s memory of the first time she saw Grandfather was hazy--she’d been no more than four or five, visiting her favorite aunt who’d been Guardian at the time; he’d turned up late one night, bruised and shaken, just come back to himself, seeking the Family’s aid; her aunt had very patiently explained things to her after he’d gone, but it was years before Shane had understood the significance.
The second time she saw him was--well, technically, there had been three encounters, but she counted it as one; it was a distinctly disorienting experience--she’d been a high school senior and he’d been a substitute teacher for her school district; of course he’d had no knowledge of the Family or his own history, and of course she couldn’t make contact, but she knew.
Their third encounter was hazy, too, but for an entirely different reason than the first; she was thirty-seven and newly divorced, she’d been getting drunk to celebrate--or mourn--and he’d been in the same bar, on the cusp of remembering everything.
Then, when she turned sixty, she spotted him again--there was no interaction this time, not really; but she saw him at a movie theatre when she was out for a girls’ night with friends from work, and he saw her, and he must have known himself because he blinked and then nodded once, acknowledging her, before turning away and melting into the crowd.
Now, of course, she was past ninety and soon she would see him again, and for the first time, it would be intentional--after all, there was no better place for her and her sisters to search for answers about themselves than the source of it all; they just had to hope that, when they found him, he would remember.

Also that second and third time, oh my god, awkward. But especially the second time. And fingers crossed that he does remember. It's not nice to take the memories away, Michaela.

Yes, I am back! Hopefully I will stay back this time, heh ^^;;
Yyyyyyeah, that was a super-awkward year for Shane...and probably for Simon, when he remembers it and realizes who one of his students was...
