Octarine: And now for something completely different
Name: Jack
Story: Elf Preppers
Colors: Octarine 15. Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign of a diseased mind.
Supplies and Styles: Graffiti (Flamethrower), Canvas
Word Count: ~300
Rating: PG
Notes: Meanwhile in a different story, which I don't think I've posted here before... I don't have an icon for Ada, only her brother. Oops.
"Ada! Adaline!!!"
Ada sighed. "Hey, Laney. You're back quick. Didn't I just see you last week?" In truth, Laney was a regular's regular at the store, but she liked it when Ada acted surprised.
Laney slapped her hands down on the counter. "Can you keep a secret, Ada?"
Oh, this was gonna be one of those conversations. People had been spilling secrets to Ada all her life, so she made the little zipping motion across her lips and smiled.
"Well, first I have a confession."
"What's that?"
Laney's voice dripped to a whisper. "I'm a unicorn."
Adaline's first thought was that someone had found her profile on the elf message board, figured out it was her somehow, and was messing with her. Laney wasn't the type for that, though, and Ada was pretty careful with her personal information.
"You are?" she asked Laney, doing her best to mirror the other woman's tone and excitement.
"I don't usually tell folks, but I know you're safe," Laney continued.
"How do you know that?"
"Well, I always wondered, you had such an exotic, otherworldly beauty, but last night I got the confirmation! I had a dream, it had to be a past life memory it was so real, and you were in it."
"I was?" Because repeating was easier than panicking.
"You were the most beautiful elven princess I've ever seen, Adaline, or I'm a liar. I knew when I woke I up that I had to tell you."
How the- how would- was that possible? Ada wondered. "That's amazing," she said out loud, her warm customer smile frozen to her face. "I never thought myself the princess type." Her best guess, from spotty memories of her own, was some kind of advisor.
"Oh but you are," Laney insisted. "Now let me explain about otherkin to you..."
