choices made

Name: Mischa
Story: tales from the drowned world
Colors: dove grey (Here is one of the worst things about having someone you love die: It happens again every single morning), halloween orange (No one gets to tell me if I've lost or if I've won.), octarine (It wasn't blood in general he couldn't stand the sight of, it was just his blood in particular that was so upsetting.)
Supplies and Styles: canvas
Word Count: 151
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: death
Summary: Love is sacrifice.. Duty means keeping the world as whole as she can: no matter what the cost to herself.
Notes: It's best to read never a dawn like this first, as this is a direct sequel. I need to rework this piece a lot: I'm not really happy with it.

It rains the day of Nalinda’s funeral: Neha bows her head, in silence, and wishes that there could have been any other way this could have ended. She couldn’t have made any other choice: the Lord of the Crossroads had been clear. His secret jangles discordantly in the back of her head, and the edges ache. She’d made her choice, and now had to live with it.

Yield or die: her sister had made her choice, too, they’d both made their choices, and Nalinda was dead. No matter how much Neha turns it over in her mind, she can’t see any way out of it, any other way this could have been.

Love is sacrifice, her brother had said, a truth she knows with her own hands, and does not weep. Her duty is to protect, to keep the world as whole as she can, no matter the cost to herself.

Ow. I really like how you managed to make Nalinda and Neha's relationship genuinely loving, and yet this happened anyway.
