shipwreck_light. I figured you'd appreciate me posting it here.
"I love that first warm spring night," Kalei said, taking off her jacket as they stepped outside. She flicked it at the garden's miniature sakura, turning the pink leaves red, and then folded it carefully so the stains didn't get on the rest of her clothes. "Let's go find someplace romantic to sit."
Emiko put a protective arm around Kalei's waist. "I'm taking you straight home."
"Why? Your bloodstone stopped the bleeding just fine, I'm all better."
"I don't trust them for internal injuries, and that knife went deep," Emiko answered, giving her girlfriend a quick kiss on the top of her head. "Humor me?"
"You know I can't argue with you." Kalei smiled. "You can make it up to me after."
The company doctor on duty that night agreed with Emiko. "If you hadn't already knitted it up, I'd probably call for surgery. As it is, there's no fluid buildup, but I don't want any strenuous activity for at least a week."
Emiko nodded seriously while Kalei sighed.
"And while I'm at it... what's your pain level?"
Kalei shrugged. "It kind of hurts. But I got stabbed, so I didn't think that was strange."
The doctor frowned at that. "I'm giving you a prescription for painkillers and I expect you to take them."
"Oh, come on, I'm sure I'll be fine..."
"You're in pain, you take painkillers. There's no virtue in suffering. Take this to the dispensary."
Kalei nodded at that and took the sheet of paper. "If you insist, Doctor." Emiko helped her up from the examination bench, and Kalei adjusted her clothes.
"And remember-" he told Emiko, glaring up at her. "No exertion."
Emiko nodded. "Of course, Doctor. I'll look after her."
"I've heard how hard you are on people, that's all..." the doctor continued. Emiko glared at him, and he took a step back. The assassin turned away and stalked angrily toward the exit, Kalei right behind her.
The doctor felt her glare all the way out regardless.
The pharmacist smirked a little when she looked at the requisition form. "Ooh, the good stuff."
Kalei bit her lip. "How strong is it?"
Her answer was a snicker. "Oh, you'll see."
That wasn't the kind of reassurance Kalei was looking for, but she took the little packet and allowed Emiko to take her upstairs and make her tea and stir the dosage into it.
At first Kalei didn't think it was doing much at all, until she tried to stand up and found that her knees were rather more like the foam noodle weapons they sparred with than the bone that usually made them up.
That mental image set her to giggling, and that was her second clue.
It wasn't long before Emiko was all but dragging her into the bedroom and trying to tuck her in for some much needed rest and recuperation. Getting Kalei into her pajamas wasn't hard, but the younger woman found the word 'pajama' hilarious.
"Emi, you promised me snuggles." Kalei giggled to herself. "You prooooomised."
"That was before you got stabbed," she answered as she dropped her own work clothes into the laundry pile and pulled on a large shirt.
"Noooo, it was after. That's how you got me home."
Emiko nodded. "Well, that was before you got all loopy, and before that doctor got all... assumption-y. I don't want you to get hurt."
"I won't get hurt. You're gentle."
The older assassin laughed. "No, I'm not."
"You're gentle enough."
"If you get hurt at all, that'll be one more person telling everyone how I overwork my employees."
Kalei frowned. "I'll just tell 'em it was from fucking. They'll shut up then."
"I'm not sure that's an improvement." Emiko flopped back against the cushions. "Besides, you're not sober enough for consent."
"I am too!" Kalei insisted, pushing up to her knees but overbalancing and falling forward, across Emiko's midriff. Emiko snickered.
"Yep, you are the picture of fully aware."
"Snuggles?" Kalei asked, her face pressed into the thick comforter.
Emiko sighed. "As long as you keep it there."
Kalei squeaked and wriggled around on the bed until she was alongside Emiko.
They lay like that, quietly, enjoying each others' company for several long minutes. Emiko was just dozing off when she felt fingers gently playing with her nipple through the thin fabric of her pajamas.
"Kalei..."
The assassin giggled.
"Come on."
"Hey, what's the problem if I touch you? You're fine."
Emiko didn't answer that, but she didn't stop Kalei as her hand slid lower, drawing delicate patterns across her stomach. She wasn't entirely sure that counted, but there's only so much you can ask of a woman who's in bed with her girlfriend, isn't there?
She moaned, and smiled, and Kalei slid her hand still lower, pushing Emiko's panties down toward her knees and slipping two fingers in between the folds of her crotch. Kalei applied gentle pressure to her girlfriend's clit, rubbing gently and making quiet humming noises to herself.
"Enjoying yourself?" Emiko asked when she was able to gather her wits.
"Yesssssss," Kalei answered before pulling her hand back and throwing the comforter up in the air so she could duck under it. The blanket landed haphazardly across the bed and Emiko looked down at the wiggling lump.
"Hey, no fair starting-oh!" Emiko felt her panties pulled the rest of the way off and in a moment, Kalei's head pushed between her thighs.
After that, any battle in Emiko's head was well and truly lost, though she couldn't help being impressed that Kalei retained so much fine motor control in her tongue and fingers while under the influence of the drug.
When they finished, Emiko had thrown the comforter off the bed entirely. Kalei reached up from the bed to open the window to the warm spring air while Emiko only lay there, sated.
"I can't feel my legs," Emiko commented.
"Me neither," Kalei giggled. "But you haven't taken anything."
"Oh, I think I've had sufficient dosage of you-" she answered, stopping suddenly at a shout from outside. Suddenly strung bow-tight, she was on her knees beside Kalei in a minute, looking out into the President's garden below. It would be a terrible time for an assassination attempt, but she'd fought in underwear before...
In the seconds it took her to assess her own readiness to fight, she and Kalei both were studying the garden below as well. Kalei spotted the source of the noise a split-second sooner, and had just started to laugh again when Emiko saw the two junior security agents below, Rafe's hands in Meztli's pants and xir face buried in xir partner's neck.
"Looks like I'm not the only one enjoying the evening," Kalei bubbled happily.
