Summary: Sometimes it's hard to find beauty in yourself.
Warnings: Background racism.
Notes: Clearing out the color before the deadline, which is tomorrow, for those of you who are also bad at deadlines.
It's about finding beauty in yourself, she thinks; about looking at her own dark skin and dark eyes and thinking, beautiful.
It's hard. Of course it is. She lives near Hollywood, for God's sake; she can see what beauty is supposed to be. Even if she lived somewhere else, there is her sister, the epitome of winter-queen gorgeousness, and her brother, tanned and beautiful in a button-down shirt.
And there's her, with fawn-soft eyes and candlelit skin, sable-fur hair and a reniassance smile. It's hard for her to see sometimes, but there's beauty there.
She hopes she won't forget again.
