Code Brown
Name: Sebastian
Title: games you shouldn't play (never as simple as you think)
Story: This City's Got Grace
Colors: Code brown: children aren't as simple s we'd like to think
Supplies: N/A
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Threatening children? Not threatened children but the kind of kids who will fuck you up.
Word count; 354
Notes: So, the organization that broke Shaun and Hel also collects children and messes with them. Sometimes they take them when they're young and sometimes they force people to breed so they might have the offspring to manipulate. This s, essentially, a poem for some of the kids, both meant to be towards the people who captured them and anyone they are sent out to hurt.
We are but children, this is true
But we're the kind that make you bleed through and through
We play with elegance and edges, it's a fact
And maybe every smile you see is our own little act
Though very one you give us will have doubt and just a dab of fear.
Girls and boys with fear on their fingers
Boys and girls who know how to make that fear linger
Girls and boys always at play.
Though the rules that they go by, no one can say.
We are but children and you may not expect.
Us to have edges or teeth, or know how to protect
What we call our own, what we claim with our blood.
But we'll drag you to hell, we will bring down a flood.
Upon all that you've known and everything you held dear.
Girls and boys with fear on their fingers
Boys and girls who know how to make that fear linger
Girls and boys always at play.
Though the rules that they go by, no one can say.
We are but children, this I know
And you think we have games, have toys, have bubbles to blow
But our toys are sharp and poisoned and our games are dark and deep
We are the kind of children that make sure you don't ever sleep
And and you find as you drift into dreaming, you don't want us near.
Girls and boys with fear on their fingers
Boys and girls who know how to make that fear linger
Girls and boys always at play.
Though the rules that they play by, no one can say.
We are but children and here is our tale.
Once there were a few of us, and we'd make sure you pass though the veil
We'd bring you down with us to the dark and unsafe places
We'd drive you mad, break you down, crack open all your secret faces.
And yes my friend, you thought you were going to get away.
But we're the kinds of children whose games you shouldn't play.

Oh, thank you! I read out loud on a regular basis, so I'm not surprised that it works better out loud.
