Dallu
981 FY
Dallu stood at the gates of the city, watching the sun rise. It wouldn't set again for months.
And he wouldn't be here to greet the darkness.
"You're sure about this?"
He smiled, and touched his mother's cheek lightly. "I am. But I'll find a way to come back. I know it."
She reached up to take his hand, and squeezed it. "I trust you. Go with the light."
He squeezed back, then dropped her hand and turned his back on the ice.
Mel
980 FY
Mel's hands were shaking. He hadn't taken the time to pack, there was too much risk he'd be spotted and the others would ask questions, questions he couldn't answer.
He had an early evening shore-leave, and waited for full dark, then fled into the night, away from the ocean. He had to put as much distance between himself and the Eagle as possible, preferably before the Captain knew he was actually missing, not just passed out drunk.
Once he left the town and it wouldn't attract more notice, he started running, hoping he could go and go and never stop.
Tana
987 FY
Tana watched the progress of the siege from her window, seeking out her brother. Of course that was impossible--Kellom was too far to see--but she’d spotted the place where the stupid freak-lovers were pushed back the farthest, and that was him.
"Tana."
She turned around, annoyed by the interruption until she saw who it was. "Good morning, Daddy. I think we're winning."
"Of course we are." He joined her by the window, put his arm around her shoulders, and kissed her forehead. "We have right on our side."
And Kellom, she added privately, leaning into her father's embrace.
Taz
989 FY
"Dammit! Dallu! Get us out of here!" Taz shouted, but she could barely hear herself. Doubtful he had. Who the fuck gave Feredar warships? They weren’t by the ocean, just a river. No need for a ship like this monster. And she lacked the balance to grab the water and capsize it.
But she did have just enough to study the other ship closely. And now I've an idea. She grabbed her sword, freed a line, and swung over, landing just beside the enemy captain. "Mornin'!" she said, putting her sword at his throat. "You'll be comin' with me now."
Deshell
970 FY
Deshell didn't waste breath yelling for the thief to stop. He was a sailor out of the Islands, anyway, and didn't know the streets of Lester the way Deshell did. All he had to do was herd him down the--
Yes, there he went.
Deshell cut across a different alley, down through the basement of a cotton warehouse, and out the other side, slamming into the thief and tackling him down.
"You," he said, panting and retrieving his cord to bind the thief's hands, "are under arrest."
Riluke
985 FY
The world settled around her as she stepped onto the beach. She breathed a sigh of relief, then straightened up to focus on the group receiving her.
Several Clan heads, including Kor Hantree, (who was rumored to have more influence than the current Lady) were on the beach in front of her. The Lady was not present--not that Riluke had expected to meet her before her formal reception as Ambassador from the City of Glass.
The old man stepped forward, smiling. "Welcome," he said.
Riluke inclined her head in response. "I'm honored to be here." And now we begin.
Kit
1002 FY
Kit had been head of Clan Artwick for just over three years, and, as much as he missed sailing--especially the adventures he'd had during the war--there was a certain pleasure in political maneuvering. And now Ras Felden's term as Lady of the Islands was up, and he was eligible to run for his own twenty-year term.
She turned around, having just finished her tally. "Kit Artwick."
He smiled, and everyone around him started cheering.

Love how creepy Tana's section is, but is there anything about that family that's not creepy and fanatic? And of course Taz and Deshell both being competent and awesome.

Tana is a special brand of creepy, yes. All of Kellom's fanaticism, with the added bonus of enjoying the violence for the sake of said violence. Kellom views lives as disposable in the name of the greater good, and will take whatever lives he feels necessary to achieve what he genuinely believes is best for his city and the non-mage population of the world at large. While he doesn't regret the lives he takes, indirectly and otherwise, he doesn't enjoy the taking itself. Tana, on the other hand...does.

It took me a while to decide how I wanted to order this. I'm glad what I eventually settled on worked ^^
