Rose Pink: let me help

Warnings: Paranoia and OCD mix together for a wonderful cocktail of brainfail in this one.

Notes: I meant to do Sentient Carnival tonight but I needed to get this one outta my head. Thus, Slendyverse. I really want to do some stuff in which I get to explain the real reason he'd being followed/what the Tall man actually is, since he's not what Teddy is perceiving him to be, I just have yet to do that.
It’s a bad day.
It’s the kin of day where he’s hitting his head on the wall after he pumps it because he has to get the number right. It’s the kind of day where he drops the soap in the sink and has to wash his hands again and again until he’s not fucking it up anymore.
It’s the kind of day where, no matter what he does, he’s messing it up, breaking the pattern and putting everything and everyone in jeopardy for it.
They used to tell him it was in his head, it was some kind of OCD or something. He beloved them because it was easier, to was nice to think that medication would fix it.
But now he knows it’s not true. Now he knows there’s something waiting for him to mess up just the right way, counting down the seconds until he doesn't do something, or does it wrong and it can break down everything he’s ever cared about.
He’s seen him in the footage, in the pictures. He remembers him from when he was young. He knows he’s right.
The Tall Man is waiting or him and one day, Teddy is going to fuck up in the right way that lets him do what he wants.
~
Dave asks him what’s wrong and he can’t say it, can’t bring him into the fear. He lies, tells him he’s fine and scratches at at the back of his hand in discomfort. He knows they’re both aware he’s lying but he can’t do stop himself.
“Tell me,” Dave pleads, wrapping his arms around Teddy and bring him to rest against his chest. He closes his eyes, breathes in the comforting scent of his best friend and doesn't say a word.
Dave knows to leave it at that because at least he’s stopped moving for a little while.
~
Meg says she’s going to take care of it, fix the mess he’s gotten himself into and he almost wants to believe her.
She tells him that even if she doesn't, if she can’t somehow mix what’s going on, she’ll help him get through it. She’ll see that he doesn't fall.
He wants to believe her.
But it’s hard when he sees the pictures watching him from the walls, pinned to a cork board and looking so innocent until you study it just a little bit more.
Teddy know she’s there and he wonders how many other times he’s missed him, how often he’s slipped into their lives and no one’s notice.d
He wonders how often he’s been at his side, waiting to hear if Dave is okay.
~
he learns to live with fear, to grow with the weight of paranoia around his neck.
it’s not easy and it’s not fun but he learns the rituals, the routines to keep everyone safe. He discovers that, when things are bad, he can do certain things to keep everything balanced and when things are good, he does those things to ensure the bad things don’t come.
He learns and he follows the unwritten guidelines as steadfastly as he can.
~
He winds up not eating because they didn't have the right food in the house and he couldn't go outside to get it.
~
Meg comes by, checks in on him and says he looks pale but he doesn't say anything, lies through his teeth about it and they both know the truth but he cna’t say it. He can’t let her know that he’s playing the game, following the rules and doing what he can to keep them safe.
Even if she knows the generalities, she can’t no the rules, no one gets to know them but him.
He gets a delivery of food and other assorted things a few days later. Some of it even goes with what he needs, others are seem to be guesses a what his mind will consider a good fit.
~
This is his life now: lies, patterns and waiting.
Always waiting, always knowing that he’s going ot be there, watching and hoping for him to slip.

Teddy just does not have all the facts and does have OCD, so his brain kind of went haywire.
