Cinnabar #11, French Grey #17, Patriarch Purple #4
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Obligation
'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Cinnabar #11. Reduce, French Grey #17. This looks like one of those unwelcome social summonses which call upon a man either to be bored or to lie., Patriarch Purple #4. family
Supplies and Materials: miniature, photography, eraser (Urban Fantasy AU), charcoal, glitter ("Sometimes you just have to try, even though you know it won't work." – Junot Diaz")
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Kellom
Warnings: Discussion of an unhappy marriage.
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
it isn't that he meant to deceive her.
fera is nice enough, intelligent and reasonably pretty and of course fully human. if he has to get married--and he does, because it's what father expects--she'll do perfectly well.
but sometimes he thinks she doesn't know he's only marrying her because he has to--because she'll do. and he can't explain it--not without hurting her, which is the last thing he wants.
he's made a mess of things, but he has an obligation here--more than one--and whatever else he is, however unintentionally cruel and deceptive he has been, he always fulfills his obligations.

You have already ripped out my heart and trodden on it.
Just- damn. The things you do with these people and their complicated hearts.
I missed it a lot!

I'm glad to be back!
And...yeah, Kellom has a very complicated heart. He marries Fera in every timeline (...except the one where he marries Kesshare) and he only ever does it out of duty. He's a little more aware of how unfair it is to her in the Urban Fantasy and In SPACE AUs, at least, because there isn't the political weight in addition to the other obligations he feels...

But the story is fantastic.

Yeah, Kellom surprises me sometimes by reminding me that there's a fraction of a decent person buried deep, deep inside him.
