Her ship is small but it’s hers and that’s what matters. She didn’t need much and she’s grateful for everything she could scrape together. Yes, she worked had to get it and she knows he deserves every bit of it but it doesn’t mean she isn’t going to be relieved she has it.

Hard work doesn’t always pay, she is very aware of that.

They push thorough the blackness, her little ship and she. They don’t go fast and they avoid high traffic areas but she doesn’t need much right now and she’s happy to drift. The black is speckled with stars, with planes and moons and suns. She knows she could go to any of them, at least any within reason and allowance, but she holds back for now.

The darkness is more welcoming.

Besides, there are things to be done, moons to call upon and a prayer to be sent out.

She moves to the engine room, her bare feet quiet against the floor. There’s no one too disturb but she always liked her space quiet in times like these.

Her hand reaches out, touching the door and whispers a quiet thanks to the ship. It’s kept going this long and she’s been rough on it as of late. She needs to treat it better, she’s very aware of this, but things have been hard as of late and even though she wants to put work and love into maintaining her ship, the time just hasn’t been there.

But things are different now, they have the time to drift and do what needs to be done. So hers he is, standing in the engine room, hands slipping over the walls and eyes closing. She breathes in and smiles to herself, knowing full well that this is long overdue.

Getting to her knees, she pulls out her supplies, candles and oils, chalk and matches. The moons are close enough that she doesn’t have to worry about too much, she can do this without much help or having to get too close, but she knows she still needs to be careful.

Positioning the candles and drawing the circle, she lights each one, whispering words to herself as she calls forth the stars, beckoning each to surround and supply her with energy. She draws in the power, calling it towards her ships engine and wills it to take in as much of it as it can.

The connection is maintained until the smallest of the candles burns out, the ship deeming it enough for now. She breathes a sigh, slumping to her knees against the engine and relaxing. They wouldn’t be stranded now, though it still has the chance of not taking.

It was always a risk doing it this way though, there were so many things that could go wrong but it was worth it. Not spending money on fuel was one of the only reasons she could manage to keep going.

And the moons didn’t mind, there was so much energy waiting to be harvested, she knew that they wouldn’t mind. Of course she still said her thanks to the planets and stars for keeping them going all the same but that was out of respect more than anything.

And the moons, oh the moons, still let them reap the energy. They have yet to close themselves away from her, even when she takes more than she intends. Maybe one day they’ll come for her, claim her and make her theirs, but for now she belongs to the open blackness and her ship. Nothing else gets to claim her now, not even the moons.
