Electricity ran through Bryce's limbs. He walked single-mindedly through the woods as if he knew them, hopping over old fallen branches and around low damp spots without looking as he made his way towards the music. It guided him away from the sound of water, then closer, as the soft lap of the lakeshore changed to the rattling rush of a stream.

Further in, the sound of the stream became a loud percussion harmony complementing the music. The sun was a red haze in the sky, giving little more light than the rising crescent moon; suddenly the trees parted, and he found himself in a clearing. Silhouetted in the distance, a slim, androgynous figure all in black danced along the wildflowered banks to a tune that seemed to come from the air.

He watched until the music was too strong to stand still.

Branches crunched under his feet. The creature turned- he still couldn't see a face even looking straight at him- and with one slick movement leapt into the stream.

Without thinking, he ran forward. The stream was shallow, maybe a foot or two deep; there was no sign of any person or thing in it, from what he could see in the moonlight. That wasn't much. He strained to hear the music again: nothing.

Bryce realized he had no idea where he was.

Uh-oh. Maybe not following the strange music was a better idea-- he looks so young!
