You always tell me to call you when there’s something, anything, no matter the hour. But how can I? When I lie awake in the middle of the night, for no real reason. Or because something hurts. (Sometimes I think my body is years older than I actually am.) Or because I simply want you to lie beside me. There’s nothing I can say at these moments. Except perhaps ‘I can’t sleep’ or ‘my shoulder hurts’ or ‘I miss you, I love you, I want you with me’.
And I can’t just call you awake for that, now, can I…?
