finch's prompt "That Time A Kitten Found Her Way Into His Bedroom"
Dozing in bed was a nice thing, especially on a nice cool morning when all you had to worry about was how comfortable the sheets were, especially since people tended to leave you alone. That really was one side benefit to being a dark lord: people were less likely to bother you unless they had a dying need to be suddenly headless.
But Koschei's reputation did not prevent those who cared less about invading his space on such a peaceful morning. He discovered this unfortunate fact when a small furry thing climbed over his face as he dozed, its tiny paw pads pushing down on his cheek and nose. He frowned as he felt one of those paw pads on his lips, wondering what this thing was.
Opening his eyes, he discovered that the culprit was a kitten, grey and fuzzy. Which was just in the middle of stepping down from his face, having crossed it. Startled by the sudden movement, the kitten jumped and turned to stare at Koschei. A few brief moments passed where they watched each other, both wary, but slowly the dark lord smiled.
“Hello pretty one. Have you lost your way?” He slowly reached out his hand to the kitten, just holding it there so she could come closer if she wished.
Which the kitten did, sniffing his hand briefly before deciding to give a finger a lick.
Koschei allowed the kitten to play with his hand a bit, batting at it and nibbling on it, for a few minutes as he contemplated the idea of getting up. Shifting his weight, he sat up and picked up the kitten, who protested with tiny meows, which soon stopped when he settled her in his lap and started scratching her behind an ear.
He smiled when she started to purr.
“You’re such a good kitty aren’t you?” laughed Koschei, pleased that the cat had decided to grace him with her presence for cats were lovely creatures. He even admired them at times.
It really was a lovely addition to his lazy morning, he thought as he continued to lavish the cat with attention until it had enough and scampered off, leaving him to the rest of this day.
