Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always. Kat's posts last night reminded me I hadn't posted my intros, either, whoops.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Andrell asked after their third or fourth drink.
"Yes," Isshiri answered, without needing a minute to think. "Not like anyone else has a better plan."
Andrell shrugged. "I mean, you could die."
Isshiri tilted his head, considering. "I could, you're right." He smiled. "But I'll go out doing something incredible." At the look on Andrell's face, he continued. "Look, I'm not hoping for death. There's a lot more to see and experience, and I want to see and experience it. But," he said, pouring himself another drink, "I started this, sort of. I mean...I've been part of this every step of the way." He laughed a little. "My little sister calls me the spark that set the world on fire. So I feel kind of responsible. And I like being useful, and important, and exciting."
"I suppose," Andrell said.
"You're not really in the best position to lecture me, I don't think," he said. "I mean, defecting like you did..."
Andrell laughed a little. "S'pose you're right. Then again, I'm not playing bait like you are. I'm just...helping where I can."
"So, you're smarter than me," Isshiri said. "Or less adventurous."
"Where you're concerned, I'm pretty sure that's the same thing."
He laughed. "I'm positive it is. Look, either I'll come back tomorrow, or I won't. Either way, it's going to be a blaze of glory. Your road's gonna be a lot harder, we both know it."
"Whether I come back tomorrow or I don't," Andrell agreed, staring into his drink.
"Either way, though? You and I, we made a difference, we made things better," Isshiri said, suddenly serious. "That's good enough for me. However many adventures I have left in me."
Andrell thought about that for a moment, then raised his eyes and his glass. "To adventure."
Isshiri flashed a grin. "To tomorrow."
