Emily smiled, watching her grandson and his pretty bride, completely devoid of regret for her decision to break with the Family. Oh, there was a marvelous story buried there, and perhaps it wasn’t fair, to make that decision for her descendants, but she had always resented being bound to a legend she barely believed.
If she missed her favorite cousins on occasion, she had her husband, her children, her children’s children…and they were free of it. Free of the Davids, free of the Lines and the Mystery and all of the nonsense.
Emily watched Evan and Tsuna dancing, and smiled.
