Their flight back to Portland left January 2nd, just before school. Wendy was increasingly distracted as time passed, obviously not wanting to go. Jaymie knew something was going on, but what? They still weren't that close.
The first thing he did upon getting home was to take his shoes off and nap on the living room couch. The second thing was feel guilty about living in this huge house entirely off his savings.
He hadn't planned on taking care of her. He hadn't had time for any plans, but he couldn't be a hobbyist forever. He had to try something.
