Crane White #10, Fire Opal #19, Summertime Blues #15
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Unwanted Challenge
'Verse: Lux
Colors: Crane White #10. All the stars came crashing 'round (Lux is not human.), Fire Opal #19. We each only have to kill 1,000 men, Summertime Blues #15. Droning insects.
Supplies and Materials: graffiti (lint roller: Dray's question: Lux, how common is your name where you're from? Is it a nickname or do you have any nicknames from your friends?), paint-by-numbers (from Kat), bichromatic, photography, canvas (two years before the main story opens), brush (maverick), oils, feathers, modeling clay, chalk, novelty beads (moving), yarn, beading wire, glitter
Word Count: 213
Rating: R
Characters: Lux
Warnings: References to death, war, slaughter, and serious injury
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
I burst out of my prison like crashing into water, when there isn't even air. My wings spread and I can barely hold back a cry at the pain--after all these years, the pain.
It isn't time yet. I am not ready.
It is a simple matter to crush the sentient insectoid beings who broke me free, because my freedom means things are set into motion that should not--
But maybe my limited perspective is wrong. Maybe everyone except I myself is ready.
I shiver, wings throbbing, and stare up at the empty sky above.
I have to get out of here. I have to go dormant as I can, in the world of the living, I have to avoid notice and reconnoiter and prepare, because they will be prepared for me.
And then will come the slaughter.
I will need a name...
I take mine, refashion it, shorten it, put it into rough syllables of human speech--I have ever had a fondness for humans--and breathe life into myself anew.
Lux.
I take off into the stars, buoyed by pain and desperation, to find a new hiding place.
But my very presence calls out a challenge to Michaela and the others left alive.
Your move.
