Summary: The war of 1141 is over, but its repercussions are still being felt. Fernando plans to attend the annual events in honor of the slain, but Elisabeth isn't so happy with these plans.

Warnings: None
Notes: This doesn't have a title yet. By the time this takes place the war has been over for four years.
“Don't look at me like that, Elisa.”
Elisabeth sniffed. “I'll look at you any way I please.”
Fernando sighed.
Elisabeth turned slightly towards him but did not face him.
“I don't see why you have to attend that tournament. It's so far away and we have perfectly fine ones here and-”
Fernando held up his hand.
“I am the king,” Fernando said. “I owe it to my people to make an appearance. I want to honor the men that fought alongside me. Would you have me refuse them?”
Elisabeth flinched slightly at the disappointment in his voice. She was grateful to the men, but she didn't feel right with him going so far away. Even if it was only for a day.
Elisabeth bit her lip. Fernando stepped forward and pressed a kiss against her forehead.
“I'll be back before you know it,” he said softly.
“Promise me you won't get hurt?” She said into his chest.
He chuckled. “I'm indestructible. If I could survive the war and that maniac Segovia. I can survive anything.”
He hugged her once more before stepping back.
“Kiss Juan and Maria for me,” he said as he walked to the door.
She nodded.
He smiled back at her. “And remember Elisa you are the queen. They have to follow your council. Don't let them intimidate you.”
“I won't,” she whispered.
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
He smiled once more before shutting the door behind him.
