Notes: I haven't written much for them and I wanted to. I know I'm not going to finish Transparent so I'll post the pieces I did finish. Well enjoy!
Sometimes Helen wondered if she was a bad person when she couldn’t deal with her family. Between her mother yelling at her for something and her brother trying to pick arguments with her, she didn’t know what to do. After her visits, she drove back to her condo as fast as she could. She reasoned with herself that it wasn’t her fault. Her mother wasn’t handling grief counseling well and her brother hadn’t found his combination of pills yet. She used the same reasoning when Johnny called her dumb and Lily threw a fit. They were still at home, she knew that couldn’t be good for them.
Sometimes Helen wanted to take a break so she could catch her breath for just a second. A second for her to cook instead of visiting the nearest fast food restaurant or watch a movie or relax in her bed for the day, but she couldn’t that. She couldn’t rest when Johnny, Tommy, and Lily needed a ride to school or her mom needed something from the store.
Once everything calmed down she would go on vacation, until then she had her tumbler of coffee, her cell phone, and her dessert cookbook.
It made things a bit easier.
