Zing 2: Nice
Author: Kat
Title: Nice
Story: Shine Like It Does
Colors: Zing 2 (I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter) with shadowsong's paint-by-numbers (There are days when Miranda runs out of patience with some of the people she works with)
Supplies and Materials: Miniature collection, pointillism, acrylic (weight room), oils (claws and fangs), fabric (this picture), glitter (character), glue ([Y]our sense of propriety prevents you from casually sharing your desires. Although you want to do the right thing, your feelings might not dissipate today until you acknowledge them by shining the light of awareness on to your emotions. Thankfully, you're able to... confid[e] in a trustworthy companion who can help you sort yourself out.), novelty beads (This isn't who I've wanted to be,/but I'm sure this is me. -from "Kaze ga Fuku Hi", sung by Maaya Sakamoto)
Word Count: 134
Rating: PG.
Summary: Miranda gives nice a shot.
Warnings: none
Notes: Trying to close out Zing by Sunday for SINTE reasons. Let's see if I can do it.
"You might try being nicer, Miranda," her father says, reproachfully; she looks down, a little embarrassed.
When one of her lawyers is late with an assignment, she smiles—he flinches like her face cracked—and tells him to get it in when he can.
She's nice to the next excuse too, and the one after that, but the third one starts to irritate her, and the ones after that just piss her off.
She's kicking the shit out of a punching bag when Jack finds her, and raises an eyebrow.
"Nice," he repeats, and laughs, then adds, "Oh, Andy, you're not nice at all."
The next late assignment with accompanying fake excuse gets a lecture, cool and quiet, on the necessity of punctuality to maintaining employment.
She leaves the nice to Charlotte, these days.
