1 BW: Council of the Governors of Adeodata
“What are we going to do about the Emperor?” Augustus, the Governor of Tucius Major asked.
Arnaudus, governor of Seycle, sighed deeply. The emperor had increasingly grown erratic. But now he was asking the unthinkable of them. He was asking for their daughters and wives.
“I will not give over Fabrica,” Augustus said speaking of his wife.
Arnaudus nodded. He had no attention of giving of his over his young daughter, Arnada. She had barely reached her menarche and even if she hadn’t, the Emperor was known for his…weird tastes.
“We have to do something,” said Celsus, the governor for Ageria.
Arnaudus stood up. He paced around the men.
“You know what we have to do then,” Arnaudus said softly.
“It’s not the question of if we will do it,” Augustus said. “The question is: how will we do it?”
“How we will overthrow the Emperor?” asked Celsus.
“He has the greatest army throughout the whole of Aeodatus,” Augustus said. “Maybe in the entirety of the world.”
“Yes,” Arnaudus said rubbing his chin. “But not all of them are loyal to him. We are not the only ones that have grown disgusted with him.”
The men nodded.
“We’ll call an emergency meeting between the rest of the governors,” Arnaudus said.
“How will we do that without alerting the Emperor?” Celsus asked.
“The Emperor is surveying his lands on the continent to the East. We’ll have to do it before then. Are we agreed?” Augustus asked.
Arnaudus nodded as Celsus did. Augustus smiled.
“There’s no turning back now.”
“No turning back,” Celsus agreed.
Arnaudus inclined his head. Either this coup would work or they were going to be food to the lions. But it had to work; they couldn’t allow it to fail now.
