Scarlet 5: Regrets
Author: Kat
Title: Regrets
Story: In the Heart -- Mafia AU
Colors: Scarlet 5 (Perhaps - I want the old days back again and they'll never come back, and I am haunted by the memory of them and of the world falling about my ears.) with dark_kana's paint-by-numbers (I have never forgotten your smile)
Supplies and Materials: Miniature, photography, oils ("I'll do whatever it takes to protect what's mine."), stain (By the time we've made it, we've had it. -Malcolm Forbes), novelty beads ("On the path to knowledge all depends upon whether we can face ourselves and all our deeds and actions energetically, with inner truthfulness and uncompromising honesty, as though we were strangers to ourselves." - Rudolf Steiner), eraser (Mafia AU).
Word Count: 100.
Rating: PG.
Summary: It isn't that Gina regrets what she's done.
Warnings: mention of child death and murder.
Notes: none.
It isn't that Gina regrets what she's done. She dislikes the business, but someone has to run it, and she's... removed... the only other candidates. If they happened to be her only remaining family, well, what else could she do?
Summer was hers. Is hers—she still dreams of that small face, of her limp hand spattered with blood. Summer is hers and they killed her, and Gina did what she had to do.
She looks after Ivy and her family still. They're hers too, even if Ivy doesn't want her anymore.
She protects what is hers. She always will.

So sad and, I completely agree with isana, haunting...
You write her so strong. And I like that she doesn't give up on Ivy and that she'll keep on loving and protecting her.

THE DETERMINATION.
Not that we expect less from Gina but /ouch/. In a good way, mind.

Thanks for reading.

Awesome, thank you. I was afraid that this would seem out of character for her; I'm glad that everyone has seen it as legitimately her, just a step further than canon.
Thanks for reading!
