Summary:

1. Warrior
She laughs when she reads the message of one of her sensei on her facebook page - 'Osu, Happy Birthday, Warrior Freya!!'
2. Grunt
The air escapes her lungs when she falls flat on her back - never having expected him to throw her over his hip – and when she opens her eyes again, she looks straight into Nick's worried face.
3. Commander
Sensei stands tall in front of the group - supervising the kids who are learning to fight.
4. Hero
She has learned to take care of herself, has learned to stand up and speak up for herself - it was necessary in this fighting world of men, after all, she has been the only girl in their group for years - but sometimes she really appreciates Nick standing up for her, defending her.
5. Battlefield
Laughing softly Freya looks at the tangled mess of bodies and entwined limbs on the ground - Nick is buried beneath the children - Sensei's mission was clear : everyone, tackle Nick to the ground – they did so without hesitation.
6. Tactics
Her eyes narrow when they are standing in front of each other, fists raised in defense and ready to attack, trying to read what the other one is going to do, trying to anticipate the next attack, trying to prevent getting hit.
7. Attrition
There are moments Nick kind of loses control when fighting - the moments his thoughts are occupied with his parents - and Freya is always glad that she is always his fighting partner at these moments; she does not regret her actions, does not regret pulling him away from their grasp and influence, but she knows it makes him suffer still.
8. Gun (or Sword, as setting appropriate)
She holds up her hands when she feels the gun against her back (the gasp of one of the youngsters nearly makes her smile) and without wasting another second she moves to defend herself - apparently too slow when she hears Nick shout 'bang' before she can decently react; cursing softly she demands a second chance.
9. Medal
She is always there to cheer him on every time he enters a Championship - Nick always claims the hugs she gives him afterwards mean more to him than any possible medal he might have won.
10. Wound
Freya screams when she falls down - her leg lying in a strange angle on the ground, her knee hurting like hell - but for the life of her, she can't explain what went wrong during the exercise.
11. Rank
Of course she comes to watch every training - despite her injury - glad that Nick is still there to take over now she can't for a couple of months.
12. Trenches
She hates sitting at the side - to watch from a distance - while she wants nothing more but step on the tatami and join the fights.
13. Orders
Her hands clench to fists when she sees some of the youngsters overstepping their boundaries while Nick is busy explaining an exercise to some others and thus does not notice their behavior, and she shouts out to them even while sitting on the bench - it kind of surprises her they still listen to her.
14. Military intelligence
Nick nods when she is explaining how they can defend themselves better against a certain attack - silently watching from the sideway can be useful after all.
15. Shrapnel
The pain in her knee is constant – like needles stabbing her - and it doesn’t seem to go away, it doesn’t even seem to lessen.
16. Ceasefire
Freya immediately recognizes the symptoms of Nick almost losing control, and she hurries over to the place where they are fighting - as soon as her leg will allow it - her hand on his shoulder and her voice calling out his name is enough to calm him down again.
17. Atrocity
She flinches when she reads about the horrible murders in the paper, wondering how it is possible that there is so much cruelty in the world, wondering how people can be so cruel - it makes her feel a little safer knowing she can fight, thinking she will be able to defend herself...
18. Daggers drawn
Smiling she watches the little competition on the tatami, knife against stick, free fight - it's hilarious to see how the outcome of the fight can be so different than predicted...
19. Pyrrhic victory
Freya knows Nick still loves his parents despite what they did to him, knows that he has still nightmares - they keep on haunting him even when they are no longer there.
20. Put to the sword
The first lesson she is back on the tatami, they train their defense on weapons - she surprises herself that she manages to prevent getting stabbed with the fake knife.
21. Ravage
Her eyes open wide and she can see the same surprised look on the faces of everyone else present when they walk into the dojo - the tatami mats ripped open, the walls filled with graffiti and the pictures at the wall torn and scattered across the floor.
22. Won the battle, lost the war
Nick was the one who recognized the graffiti-tag and went to the police, it was without pity that he turned in his own brother - his parents' favorite.
23. Weapons of mass destruction
It was a huge risk she took, kissing him in the midst of a ground fight, because it could have destroyed everything between them – but he just looked at her, surprised only for a second, before he smiled and tightened his hold on her arms and kissed her right back.
24. Flashbacks
Sometimes he still wakes up screaming in the middle of the night, and there is nothing she can do but hold him and make soothing noises and rub his back and kiss him and tell him everything is alright now.
25. War is hell
Like every couple they sometimes have words, an argument, a fight – but unlike other couples they don’t only talk it out, they sometimes fight for real, knowing they’ll never cross the other one’s limit.

My eyes widened even more when Nick recognized the tag and didn't hold back to tell on the culprit, I'm glad he decided to tell.
