CBB stands for Camellia Brook Belles.

Howard sighed from the backseat of the automobile. Helen was driving wildly. He was sure they hadn’t crossed the bridge separating East and West Camellia Brook yet. As a matter fact, he thought he had just saw Miss Dorothy’s house.

“Where are you going, Helen?” Clarence said beside her.

“We’re going across the bridge, dummy,” Helen said rolling her eyes.

“Yeah but you’ve been driving for thirty minutes and we still haven’t crossed the bridge, it’s only a fifteen minute ride from Ben’s farm to the Brook Bridge.”

Helen sighed as she turned down a road. The problem was that she couldn’t tell where everything was in the dark. She had never been in this part of town before.

“Helen, stop the damn car and let me drive!” Howard said kicking the back of the seat.

“I can manage it, Howard,” she said gritting her teeth.

She stopped the car and looked around for landmarks. She spotted the statue of the town’s first mayor. That meant they were close to the bridge.

“I think I’ve got it. We’re almost there,” she said excitedly.

“Helen, maybe we should turn around. What if our parents catch us going to the Colored side of town?”

“Don’t be a wuss,” Benjamin said grinning. “You told me just yesterday that you liked the look of those Colored girls.”

Leonard sighed. “That was you, Benjamin. No man in their right mind would try to get with a Colored girl.”

Helen drove over the great steel bridge. She stopped the car then.

“This is it guys, West Camellia Brook. We’re in the Coloreds territory now,” she said looking around at the shabby houses.

Clarence looked over at Helen.

“You scared?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. Of course I’m not scared,” Helen spat.

Howard kicked the back of her seat. “Well you should be.”

Helen didn’t say anything more. She started up the car and drove.
