His arms around Kayerith’s neck. A secure grip. Beneath them are mountains. The top’s white with snow.
Looking aside he meets Caithlynn’s eyes. He knows, at his other side, Alan is looking at him as well. Both worried. He got wounded in the battle they fled. A blanket around his shoulders.
Frey smiles reassuringly. They worry too much. He’s okay. Of course he is.
He’s tempted to ask if they are though. For the first time he has seen the scars on their bodies. Has seen Caithlynn clutch her side in pain. But he doesn’t. They wouldn’t want him to.
