She's running through the valley. Walls of stone on either side of her. Caithlynn turns her head, looks behind her, when she feels the heat intensify on her back. Her eyes widening when she sees the fire closing in on her. It destroys every tree and every bit of green that grows down here.
Looking back to the road ahead. Softly cursing. She should not have look behind. It costs her a couple of seconds. Seconds she can't afford to lose.
Her breath is already going way too fast. Her lungs hurt, not only because of the smoke.
Still running she brushes away a line of sweat that is trickling down her forehead. Silently she calls for the wind. Not able to speak a single word out loud.
The sky above suddenly turns dark. It seems as if even the smoke cringes away a little when the clouds arrive.
The wind raises in force. Gathers right behind her. Forms a barricade between her and the flames. But it can't make the fire stop. She knows it will only manage to hold it off just a little while longer.
Not enough time. There is never enough time...
Another curse leaves her lips. She had never known there were Element Wielders working for the Shadows... She would never have expected them to be as strong as this.
Still running her eyes flash left and right, looking everywhere. Hoping for a sign. Hoping to catch sight of...
"Caithlynn!"
The yell comes from somewhere to her left. Somewhere above. Looking up, she sees Alan standing on the cliff, water twirling all around him. A small smile suddenly arrives on her lips when once again she calls for the wind. Calling it to lift her up...
She feels the wind push her when she jumps, leaping up into the air. In the blink of an eye she is standing next to Alan, on top of the cliff, watching the fire roar beneath them.
Caithlynn holds her breath when Alan raises his hand. A wave flowing in from the other side of the valley. Gaining speed and meeting the fire head on.
When she looks aside she sees the concentrated look on Alan's face. Knows how much power and energy this is asking from him.
Turning her face back to the valley she closes her eyes, also raising her hand, calling for the wind to guide and push the water against the fire.
Their combined powers make the fire surrender quickly. In the distance, far away, she can hear the frustrated yell of the dark magician. His power not yet broken, he let go of the connection before it could be completely defeated.
Alan's legs are trembling. And Caithlynn knows he'll soon collapse if nothing happens.
"Let's go Alan."
He looks aside, a wary and tired look in his eyes. And a little bit defeated...
She's surprised he lets her see it. Gently she takes his hand in her.
"Let’s go."

I LOVE THIS ONE (yup, it totally deserves the capslock)
You described the scene perfectly, I could envision it all. *swoons over her idea of Alan close to collapsing* I'm glad he starts to trust her with his feelings. Or was he simply too exhausted to shield them?
Anyway lots and lots of ♥ ♥ ♥ for this drabble!

It deserves capslock? ^^ I'm honored. ^^
Why does it not surprise me you'd swoon over someone getting hurt? :p
Ano ... He was too exhausted to shield his emotions, gomen ne. But one day they'll trust one other enough. I think... ^^;
Btw, did I already mention I started some new drabbles for the other universe - memories once stolen? XD It's been so long ago since I last wrote something about that.. Nelly almost seems like a stranger again. *headdesks* Not to mention Rafael... *hides*
