Marie studied the book. She was reading The Narratives of Brondism. She often read the scriptures because they made her feel better. She felt that reading the holy book connected her to a higher power. That someone out there was watching out for her.

There was a knock at the door. Marie looked up as one of her ladies went to answer it.

“Your Highness,” Ambassador Guiterrez said walking into the room.

Marie stood up and let the ambassador kiss her hand.

“What news have you?” Marie asked him.

“Nothing of particular interest, but I have something for you.”

Guiterrez motioned to someone out the door. An Ibonian looking man came in and handed the ambassador a small box. Guiterrez nodded as the man left just as quick as he had came.

“His Majesty, King Augustine has sent this for you,” Guiterrez said pushing the box gently into Marie’s hands.

Marie looked at him quizzically before opening up the box. When she saw what was inside, she gasped. Inside the box was a miniature of the Holy Son, Bronde, made out of gold.

Marie looked up at Guiterrez. He smiled gently at her.

“His Majesty sends his well wishes and he bade me to tell you to keep the faith. You will be rewarded.”

Marie clutched the tiny figurine to her chest. “Is he-?”

Guiterrez shushed her and looked at her ladies. Marie understood and remained silent.

“Thank His Majesty for me.”

Guiterrez nodded before smiling at her. He bowed and left the room leaving Marie along with her ladies.

She placed the figurine down next to the Narratives and smiled. It looked like there was someone watching out for her after all.
