Atomic Tangerine: The Four Horsemen
Name: Charley
Story: And The Devil Makes Three
Colors: Atomic Tangerine (The Four Horsemen)
Word Count: 267
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Summary: Molly is going to see the end of the world whether she wants to or not.
Molly tries to tell herself she's not going to see the end of the world. She forces herself to believe that one day she is going to die, that one day, she'll close her eyes and never wake up again. She wants to believe that, when the world burns, she won't be there to see it.
Except she knows that it's probably not true.
She knows that she will see the Horsemen ride, tear through the world with sharp swords and gleaming eyes. She will watch them break down everything she holds dear and she will have to let it happen.
Because all things end, even the strange, wonderful, beautiful, broken place she calls home.
And maybe it would not be quite so bad if she didn't think she would be a part of it, if her function as an angel would not put her in line to work when the End came but she is what she is. She is an angel under Death. She works with people's endings, the last moments of their lives and the travel they will to go through before passing onto something else.
And she knows that, while she may be an agent of Death and War will come, Pestilence will dance on the shaking ground and Famine will bring people to their knees, Life will come after. The end of one story is just the beginning of another.
Something new will rise from the ashes of the dead earth and because of what she is, because she is Life as well as Death, she will be there to see it.

This makes me happy. Well, in that Molly is so tragic and sensitive, I come full circle unto happiness when she shows up. Say, now.

Yeah, Molly is...I love her. I love ow she tries so desperately to find the good in this. It makes me smile.

But I'm glad to read she can still hope. New beginnings. It's good to have hope when all seems so lost.
