Styles and Supplies: graffiti (songfic challenge- 'curses' by the crane wives), gesso (they are not-cats!!! from pce), frame (meant to be like. after some sort of ending where you leave lumi w/ you/let her join you?), chiaroscuro. maybe interactive art because some of the lyrics are used but adapted to the situation
Summary: Orbit feels guilty about damning Lumi alongside him. (dividers by cafekitsune)
Prompt Reasoning: the Guilt (tm)

You can't bear to let Lumi go.
You can't bear to let the others suffer, stuck in time and eternally dying, eternally winning and eternally losing.
You make your choice and you wonder if this is how she felt when she made hers.
"Orbit..." She asks you. "We can't stay here. We need to find a way out."
Ashes, ashes, stardust to stardust. You've left yourself behind as sacrifice. You've left her behind out of greed.
You hate yourself for not regretting it.
"Orbit..." She asks you. "Are you ok?"
Your current form is an image, a remnant. She doesn't know that.
She doesn't need to know that.
Doesn't need to know that you've become just like her.
"Orbit..." Lumi says. "I think we've been walking in circles."
Of course you've had. There's nothing but circles for her.
You'd like to think you're better than her, at least.
But Citrus had jumped in to save her.
But you had trapped Lumi here.
But she had left Citrus to wander endlessly.
But you had left an image- a memory? of yourself to walk by Lumi's side.
"Orbit... are you ok?"
You turn to look at her. A tear falls from your eye. "I..."
Your limbs fail you- this body of yours is not real. Where 'you' really are is sitting in the end of this painful maze, a shadow of your former self- feeling only pain, your heart bleeding and yourself chained down by a wish.
A wish made by a man out of spite, to trap the woman who dared to save the world from him.
She runs towards you- her tail is spiked and shooting up, her head shoves up against your neck, you look up in the sky and you see-
The rest of your party looks down at you- they're older, now. Swee has grown, their light eyes looking the two of you over.
"... Ore?" They say. "Lums?"
They run- run from up above in the skies down to you, and when they run right through you you shudder at the sensation.
You know they aren't real.
This curse is after both of us.
They're not coming back.
You're not going home.
You've doomed Lumi with your own hubris- you've trapped her here because you wanted her too much to not spare her this fate.
"Ashes, ashes, stardust to stardust." You say. You smile. You can't remember how to beg the stars for forgiveness.
"Orbit..." Lumi rubs against you, her black and dark (red. You remember her fur is red.) fur swaying slightly. "...Orbit. We need to stay strong."
You close your single eye. "We're stuck here forever." You say. "We're stuck here together."
"Orbit!"
"It's my fault..." You say. "It's my fault. I'm greedy and I loved you too much."
"Orbit..."
"I'm a monster." You say. "Won't you stay with me, Lumi?"
"I will... I will..." You sneak a peek. She's looking around. "We need to find the others-"
You can't crush her hopes like this. You get up on your paws. "Let's go, then."
You lead her back in circles like the monster you are.
