Summary: Summer in medical school.

Everyone wants Summer to be something different.

Her professors want her to be a perfect student. Her classmates want her to be the kind of person who goes to clubs. Connor wants her to be… something, she’s not sure, but sexier, definitely. Her family, maybe, doesn’t want to change her as much, but they’re far away now, and anyway they want her to be happy.

She doesn’t know how to be these things. There aren’t rules for this, not even the secret kind that Gina tells her. She talks to people and finds she’s said something she didn’t mean to say. She goes out with Connor and finds she’s offered something she didn’t mean to give. She doesn’t understand, and no one will explain, and homesickness clogs her throat at night when she’s trying to sleep.

She’s only been in medical school for a month.
