Wild Thyme 3: got a hole for the world to see
Author: Kat
Title: got a hole for the world to see
Story: Shine Like It Does
Colors: Wild thyme 3 (one thing at a time)
Supplies and Materials: Graffiti (Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, KT Tunstall)
Word Count: 202
Rating: PG
Summary: Charlotte is supposed to be an adult.
Warning: none
Notes: This takes place shortly after Miranda gets stabbed.
“Carlita,” Miranda said. “What’s wrong?”
Charlotte nailed a smile to her face before she turned to face her sister, manically cheerful. “Nothing. Why do you ask?”
Miranda clearly did not buy it; she tilted her head to the side and narrowed her eyes like she could see through Charlotte, the way she always did. “You’re not yourself,” she said. “What is it?”
For a moment Charlotte thought about telling her. I’m in love but I lied to him and he’ll never forgive me. She could cry on her sister’s shoulder, and Miranda would stroke her hair and find a way to fix it. She could give her troubles to Miranda the way she always had.
But Miranda was still pale, still hurting, the stitches in her abdomen still pulling every time she moved- not that she ever said anything, but Charlotte saw the wincing in her face. She’d been home from the hospital for less than a day. Someone had tried to kill her. And Charlotte was- was supposed to be- an adult. She had to solve her own problems this time. Deal with her own pains.
She shook her head and forced her smile wider. “I’m fine, Miracita. Don’t worry.”
