She’s not sure how Christopher managed to pry them off his mother, though she is sure there must be blood under his fingernails. What she does know is that she looks incredible, and Nancy Hennessy looks like a ghost, fury in every tight-lipped glance. How dare you, her eyes say.
There’s so much she could say to that. Because your son loves me. Because I love him. Because I am better than you, in every way. Because I hit a nerve, bitch, and you deserve it.
