Summary: Imagine it was Gorgo's poetry that survived the ages, rather than Sappho's, exhibit six.
Tender of age, the patriarch enthroned
At the end of our table, his voice intoned
With care and concern for the future generations
That fly his household to take over all the nation’s,
Leaving the father alone,
With his knee a-trembling,
To lean on his staff with a long-suffering groan
And be the sole invoker of his own admirable doing.
