Metanrye carefully, gently, quietly shut the door to her room behind her, and then spun around in a wild, giddy circle, hands pressed to her mouth so she wouldn’t shout her joy.
It isn’t final yet. There are contracts to negotiate, there are so many details…
But it had happened. Larien had pulled her aside, in the gallery where they had first kissed, and whispered the question in her ear and oh, gods on their Pillars, how could she say anything but yes?
She had known for months that Larien loved her; there was no doubt of that. But the marriage of a future King rested on more than his heart.
But he wouldn’t have asked before securing his father’s approval, so while there were still things that could go wrong, still reason to keep her mouth shut and her joy silent…
Larien was going to marry her. She was going to marry him.
How she wished she could shout it to the stars.
