"Y'know," Sil's old man said while they were moving him into his new P.I. office, "I had no idea you'd glom onto those old books and vids like this."
Sil didn't snap at him and was damn proud of himself for it. He'd been a kid, he wanted to say. Old enough to remember his dad, young enough to still idolize him. And then he'd vanished, leaving behind all those funny old stories he'd used to tell him at bedtime. A kid like that needed something to hold on to, right?
"Funny how things work out," was all he said.
