__________
I--N.
To you, whose true name is too large for man’s mouth, we give thanks for all light that touches the earth, for the star daughters that fill the heavens during day and night and serve as our protectors on your behalf.
Mountain Maiden.
We give thanks for the shadow of your peak, falling upon our fields and across our streets, that it does not devour us but only provides us with cooling shade that dries the sweat off our brow like the gentle touch of an adolescent girl’s hand.
Mother of Creation.
We give thanks for the rich earth softened by the water of the rivers that you have put in their designated places and tamed like wild, running horses. Like a mother to her children, in a sweet murmur, you have taught us to keep the animals and to not sleep alone under the weight of darkness. You safeguard us with your knowledge.
Divine Queen.
We give thanks for the sacred bridge you have built between the world and the heavens above the top of your mountain. That with an utterance of your name, we too can walk into the gold of dawn and the blood of sunset. With an utterance of your holy name, we live on among the stars, and all times shall stretch out before our feet. By your name, we become unperishable.
Wife of No One.
To you, who is alone in her exceptionality, we give thanks that you, like a lover to her beloved, have taught us how to provide you with companionship that does not capture, that does not hold but in reverence keeps us at a due distance. Let us always be subjects of love to you. Let our devotion never falter, let our worship never grow silent or still.
Let us continue to hear the words from your tongue. Truly.
