White Russian #3, Amaranth #2, Halloween Orange #1
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Something About This Feeling
'Verse: Lux
Colors: White Russian #3. Век живи́ — век учи́сь. (Live for a century — learn for a century.), Amaranth #2. Unicorn, Halloween Orange #1. It's just 'til my evil plan comes into flower.
Supplies and Materials: reimaging (of the last one of these), photography, pastels (Year of the OTP prompt list; January prompt 'first kiss'), glue (Keep an eye out for a spontaneous opportunity from your friends. Even if your first instinct is to stick with your pre-set plans, make an effort to break out of the monotony in one way or another. It should have long-lasting benefits.)
Word Count: 233
Rating: PG
Characters: Lux, Mariko
Warnings: Interspecies relationship, vague references to war.
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always. I'm also planning to draw from this same prompt list for my other two main verses, so if anyone has opinions on which pairings they'd like to see, I've posted a list of options on my writing tumblr!
Lux was not wholly inexperienced with sex or romance. Even before she had chosen to rebel, while it wasn't her role or purpose, she had had a few encounters, most of them pleasant, over the course of her long life.
But there was something different this time.
Not just because, for the first time, she was kissing a human, and not another angel. That was part of it, certainly, and in ways she had never expected.
There was something about the way Mariko looked up at her; the way she tilted her head, rose up on her toes with deliberate intent; with warmth more than heat.
Something about the feeling that was more than purely physical, as their lips met, as Lux let her mouth open, inviting this human to explore her mouth, to be explored in her turn.
They fit together, in a way Lux had never felt with a lover of her own species. And if there was an element of bitterness--not shame; Lux refused to be ashamed of who and what she was--to that realization, it only served to heighten the sweetness, the taste of Mariko on her tongue.
Lux was what she was; there were things she knew she must do; things that were fundamentally incompatible with--whatever this was.
And Mariko was only human.
But for a moment, with this first--first?--taste of Mariko on her tongue, Lux could almost forget.
