The next step is mundane but necessary. As much as he wants to skip it, just ride this high for the rest of the night, he knows better.

He scrubs the blood off his hands; checks his hair and jewelry, decides they’re clean enough.

His clothes…

Not a total loss, he decides, though obviously he can’t wear them back through town. He’ll mix them in with another set, one he’s worn in open combat. No one will question it.

He changes quickly, then packs the bloody clothes away and sets off, back for his ship, satisfied with the night’s work.
